From Stands To Homes Prof Taruberekera Breaks Ground On 15 State-of-the-art Houses For Vulnerable Zimbabweans In Kadoma

Philanthropist and Craft Properties Holdings Founder and Chief Executive says project embodies Vision 2030 and “deeds, not words”

KADOMA – Nine months after donating stands, a promise is rising in brick and mortar.

Following the handover of 15 residential stands to vulnerable Zimbabweans on 27 November 2025, philanthropist Professor Kudakwashe Taruberekera, Founder and Chief Executive of Craft Properties Holdings, has confirmed that construction of the first homes is underway.

Prof. Taruberekera announced that by the end of August 2026, Craft Properties Holdings will hand over a fully completed, three-roomed, state-of-the-art house to one of the 15 beneficiaries. Construction of the remaining 14 homes will proceed in phases as resources permit.

The beneficiaries include 10 people with disabilities and 5 people living with albinism. Each received council-approved architectural plans at the November 2025 ceremony in Kadoma.

“I Preach Deeds, Not Words”
Grounding the project in faith, Prof. Taruberekera quoted Psalm 127:1:
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”

Aligned with National Vision
“This aligns with Government’s drive to ensure no one and no place is left behind in attaining upper middle-income status by 2030,” said Hon Minister Marian Chombo, Guest of Honour at the November 2025 handover. “We commend the private sector’s complementary role in improving livelihoods.”

Beneficiaries described the initial donation as “life-transforming”. The commencement of construction now moves that transformation forward — from land ownership to dignified shelter.

“With the limited resources at our disposal, we remain committed to building decent homes on all 15 stands. As a businessman and Christian, I rely on God for strength to complete these houses. I ask Zimbabweans and friends abroad to join me in prayer for wisdom, power, and support to finish the work we began this year,” he said.

“Craft Properties Holdings is marking 18 years of excellence by God’s mercy. If God has blessed us with more projects in Kadoma and beyond, we have a responsibility to use that blessing to uplift others,” he added.

Corporate Social Responsibility with a Christian Heart
The “15 Homes of Hope” initiative reflects Craft Properties Holdings’ commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and inclusive development. For Prof. Taruberekera, business success carries a moral duty.

“God gives us housing projects in Kadoma and beyond so we can build not just for profit, but for people. These homes are worship. They are a covenant,” he said.

Drawing on 18 years of construction expertise, Craft Properties Holdings will deliver homes built to state-of-the-art standards — durable, accessible, and designed with dignity.

A Call to the Nation
Prof. Taruberekera has called on Zimbabweans and international partners to stand with him in prayer and, where possible, collaboration to complete all 15 homes.

“Pray with me that God provides the power and resources to finish this work. When we build for the least of these, we build for God. With Him, all things are possible.”
